A Quiet Knowing Counseling, LLC | Meg Chuhran, LICSW

A Quiet Knowing Counseling uses social media to share information about the practice, offer educational resources, and discuss topics related to mental health and well-being. This policy explains the boundaries of my social media presence and some considerations for protecting your privacy.

Educational Information and Professional Advice

Information shared on my social media accounts is intended for general educational and informational purposes. It is not a substitute for individualized mental health care, professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Following or interacting with my accounts does not establish a therapeutic relationship with me.

Privacy and Confidentiality

Following, liking, commenting on, sharing, or otherwise interacting with my professional social media accounts may reveal your connection to my practice. Social media platforms are not confidential, and I cannot guarantee the privacy of your activity or information shared on these platforms. You are welcome to follow my professional accounts, but please consider the potential privacy implications before interacting with them. There is no expectation that current or former clients follow or engage with my accounts.

Professional Boundaries and Online Connections

To maintain appropriate professional boundaries, avoid dual relationships, and protect client privacy, I do not accept friend or connection requests from current or former clients through personal social media accounts, and I do not follow current or former clients from my professional accounts. You may follow my professional accounts, but I will not follow you back.

  • Online Researching Boundary: To respect your privacy and preserve the clinical boundary of our work, I do not search for current or former clients online, nor do I view your personal social media profiles or digital footprints. If there is digital content or online information that you feel is relevant to your therapy, I encourage you to bring it into our sessions so we can explore it together.

I do not seek endorsements, testimonials, ratings, or reviews from current or former clients. You are entitled to share your own experiences, but I encourage you to consider the potential impact on your privacy before posting about a therapeutic relationship publicly. Because of confidentiality obligations, I cannot respond to reviews or publicly acknowledge whether someone is or has been a client, regardless of whether a review is positive or negative.

Comments and Direct Messages

Social media is not an appropriate, secure, or confidential way to communicate with me about therapy, discuss personal concerns, or seek individualized mental health guidance. Please do not use comments or direct messages (DMs) to share sensitive personal or treatment-related information.

To maintain ethical dual-relationship boundaries and protect your privacy, I do not conduct clinical correspondence or administrative business via social media messaging. I do not provide clinical assessment, treatment, or crisis support through social media. I may not see messages or comments promptly, and I cannot guarantee a response.

If you are a current client and have something you would like me to know about your treatment, or if you need to discuss scheduling, please bring it to our next session or contact me exclusively through the secure, HIPAA-compliant communication methods we have established for our work together.

Emergencies and Crisis Support

My social media accounts are not monitored for emergencies and should not be used to seek urgent mental health support. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the United States. If you are in immediate danger or need emergency assistance, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Feedback and Questions

I welcome feedback about your experience of therapy and encourage current clients to bring questions, concerns, or dissatisfaction directly to me so we can discuss them together in an appropriate setting. Social media is not a reliable or secure way to communicate concerns about your care.

Thank you for respecting these boundaries and for considering your privacy when engaging with A Quiet Knowing Counseling online.
